In order to perform the Deadbolt Pose or Parighasana you must :

In order to perform the Deadbolt Pose you must :

  • Kneel down and stretch your right leg with your foot on the floor and knee toward the ceiling.
  • The left knee should be in line with your hips.
  • Stretch your arms parallel to the floor with your palms down.
  • Flex the trunk to the right and left hand on the right shin or ankle of the extended leg.
  • Put your left arm behind the left ear
  • Switch legs and repeat the pose.

Contraindications

Do not perform this asana if you have the following injuries or ailments.

  • If you have a serious knee injury you can do this pose sitting on a chair wearing to the side legs.
